Japanese Karate Academy

dojo.jpg

I study the art of Shito-Ryu at the Japanese Karate Academy under the tutelage of Shihan Ivan Lewis, 6th Dan Kyoshi. I began my training in January of 1999, and immediately began noticing the effects of martial arts on my life. My grades at school rose, my concentration improved, and I gained an immeasurable amount of self-respect and self-control.

In 2001, I halted training to join the Air Force, and spent two years there.  While there, my training did not progress, but I continued to practice what I learned.

In May of 2004, I returned home from active duty and began my training again. So here I am now, on my way to earning my black belt.  I'll be testing later this year, and I'm really looking forward to that.
